How long does Chexsystems report?
« on: April 15, 2011 01:48:05 AM »
I had an incident (largely the bank's fault because of their posting order) but it was 5 years ago. I was wondering how long I would remain in chexsystems?

If it is a negative trade line,  7 years.

Postive trade line?  Don't worry about it.

In Chexsystems, I believe its 5 years. However on a credit report it will be 7 years from DOFD. Some banks report to both agencies.

How long does the report stay on file? How do I get it deleted?

Each report submitted to ChexSystems remains on our files for five years, unless the source of the information requests its removal or ChexSystems becomes obligated to remove it under applicable law.

Your Chexsystems should be clear after 5 years... however, some banks report to another company called Early Warning Services.

It's owned by the big boys - BofA, Wells, Chase and BB&T (as of mid-2010).

So it's best to also request a copy of your report maintained by EWS.
