Credit card...
« on: November 02, 2014 01:13:05 PM »
Hello all,

The plan calls for obtaining a credit card, an unsecured card for that matter.  The outline suggests a couple different banks.  Can I not just get one through my own credit union if they are willing?  Is it worth trying or should I just go through the suggested bank in the outline?

I would get one from a credit union.

If a credit union won't give you a card, it is a sign you don't need one at this time. The only lenders who will give you one may be lenders who are best avoided.

Ok thanks!  Yeah I'm pretty sure I can get one through the credit union.

+1 on Credit Union.

I would avoid the fee harvesting credit cards.

1 FDCPA Settlement (w consumer atty)

1 State UDAP Settlement (ITS)
1 Federal PTC Settlement (before hearing; pro-se)

The term for these cards is "fee harvesters."

What do you want the credit card for? Are you using it daily or to rebuild credit? If it is to be used daily, go to whoever has the best rates. Seems like I get several in the mailbox weekly so you shouldn't have a hard time picking one.

The credit card is part of the rebuilding process on the flyingifr guide.  I have secured an unsecured card from my credit union who still like me..lol!  So all is well.
